technologists have options in many online MRI certificate programs.

MRI technology certificate programs prepare participants to use imaging equipment that aid doctors in diagnosing diseases and ailments. Most programs are offered as post-degree programs and for those already employed in radiologic technology. Prerequisites typically include up-to-date immunizations, a background check and a drug-screening. Some schools also perform interviews, orientation sessions and training for their online programs. These programs take approximately two semesters to complete, depending on the amount of past education in MRI technology. All certificate programs require a portion of in-person, clinical training, either in their curriculum or in a previous associate's degree program. Job prospects were expected to be best for those who knew more than one imaging specialty, such as CAT scan, MRI and mammography. The median wage for radiologic technologists and technicians in May of 2009 was $53,240 (www.bls.gov).Continuing Education and Certification Information
Bachelor's degree programs in radiology specialties are available to those wishing to pursue further education. A master's degree in health administration or business can help advance careers in radiologic supervisory, administrative or technology positions.Also, the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) offers certification that may help in advancement in the field. Certification is voluntary, and to be eligible a technologist must pass an exam and graduate from an approved educational program. In addition, 24 continuing education hours must be completed every two years to maintain certification.
