Online Sports Massage Courses and Training Programs

Sports alternative healthcare, such as massage therapy, is a fast-growing field, with a large number of athletes, patients, women and men everywhere using massage therapy. Online sports massage courses offer students the opportunity to learn this field of study and earn certificates or degrees.

Online Sports Massage Courses and Training Programs

Sports massage courses and training programs are offered at many colleges and career schools through their online or distance learning programs. Some parts of sports massage training require hands-on experience, so students may be required to complete some courses at an on-campus massage therapy clinic.
Students interested in sports massage typically enroll in massage therapy and choose sports massage as a specialty. Most online sports massage courses are part of diploma, certificate or degree programs. Upon completion of many of the sports massage courses and training programs, students can sit for the National Certification Exam (www.ncbtmb.org).
Students may earn massage therapy diplomas or certificates, as well as pursue degrees, such as the Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) in Massage Therapy or Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Health Fitness Specialist. Career opportunities for sports massage therapists include working in sports medicine facilities, fitness centers and spas, hospitals, rehabilitation centers, vacation resort, cruise ships or private practice.
